Here is some fun information. I actually knew Abel in Tanzania. I served in the ward that he was living in and I helped teach and baptize his wife. Abel was always very funny and very charismatic in life and I believe that is how he was able to come to America.
Most people in Africa want to live in America because it is the land of opportunity. I know four people who lived in Tanzania and now live here in America. They love the chance to be here but they all do miss their family. Family has always been a big part of African culture. The fact that they are willing to leave their family and come to America shows how much of an opportunity it is for them to live here.
Have you ever wonder what it is like to live outside the United States? Do you ever wonder what other countries think of us? Today we will go inside the mind of Abel Chisanga, a man born in Africa and is now going to school in America.
Abel was born in his native land of Zambia but due to economic hardships he moved to Tanzania. He learned of the beauty and living opportunities of Tanzania while he served a missionary for the Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-day Saints. After his mission he returned to Tanzania and meet his wife Rachel. A year later Abel was working and prepare for the birth of his first-born child when he received the opportunity to school in America.
With the chance of a lifetime Able took the leap of faith with his pregnant wife to leave their comfortable home in Africa to come to the adventure of America. The journey was difficult for them. While his wife was close to giving birth, he had to make travel arrangements and he had to figure out how he was going to live in this new world.
Abel describes the life style of his homeland and explains what it is really like to live there. Contrary to popular belief Africa is a place where people wear clothes, lives in houses and don’t have lions as pets. Abel also shares what he thinks about our food and what his plans are for the future. Go ahead and take a look into his life style.
